As of May 2002, there are a number of different sensor boards that you might have. The following pictures will help you identify which board you have. In addition to the two boards below, a weather board has been developed in 2002 and will be available soon.

Basic Sensorboard

The basic sensorboard has these two sensors:

  • temperature
  • photo

The basic sensorboard works with rene, rene2 and the mica platforms. It is the default sensorboard for the rene and rene2 platforms. If you would like to use it on the mica platform, set the variable SENSORBOARD to either ‘micasb’ or ‘basic’ (no quotes) in your makefile.

Mica Sensorboard

The mica sensorboard can have these sensors:

  • temperature
  • photo
  • magnetomer
  • accelerometer
  • microphone
  • sounder (buzzer)

Some boards do not have all of the above components. For example, the board shown above does not have the sounder. If it did, the sounder would be soldered onto the large square in the middle. Other boards do not have the magnetomer or accelerometer but do have the sounder.

The mica sensorboard is the default sensorboard for the mica platform.
